Appetizers at Wolfgang Puck’s In the MGM Grand:
1777 Third St.
Detroit, MI 48226
Last week I took a trip to the MGM Grand Casino to experience some downtown Detroit diversion. I enjoy the casinos because they are flashy, they are always full of people, and you hear exciting noises. It seems that whenever I go, the casinos are crowded and busy. They have definitely been a big hit in Detroit as well as in other areas around the country. My only complaint about it is the smoke. If they could just get a truly non smoking area, that would help non smokers out a lot.
I am just a novice slot player and I have a strict budget. Usually my budget lasts long enough for an hour or two of play.
There are several great restaurant choices at the MGM Grand Detroit. On the high end there is Saltwater and Bourbon Steak. Saltwater enjoys a 4 star AAA rating and the food and service are outstanding. Of course, the prices are pretty high but the great food is worth it.
Like all betting portfolios there is a buffet called Palette as well as other quick bite choices such as Starbucks.
We chose Wolfgang Puck for a break from the gambling action. The restaurant has a nice relaxing atmosphere. The décor is rustic with antlers decorating the ceiling and wood stacked up around the walls.
I ordered crab cakes and my companion ordered chicken wings. They were both appetizers.
My crab cakes were delicious they were quite small but they were served on a wasabi sauce and a seafood sauce and they were extremely tasty. The chicken wings were undecipherable. They were done with an Asian twist but they were a jumble of chicken bones and greasy fried skin, very unappetizing. We really did not like them.
The service was not really very good either. We visited at about 4 PM, before dinner but well after lunch. Service was at a snail’s pace and there did not seem to be anyone supervising the dining area. They had a shift change and we got lost in the shuffle and had to flag down a server to get our bill.
We also ordered drinks, rum and coke and a mojito. The drinks were excellent, well mixed with just the right amount of alcohol.
A nice place to stop in as long as you are not in a hurry but I would not order those chicken wings!
